The Windows version of Chreos has been developed in Christchurch NZ since 1997 by Wild Software Ltd in response to customer demand for easy-to-use, inexpensive, fully Windows-based accounting software package that can flex to meet the unique needs of each business. Steven Wild, founding director of Wild Software says: "In my many years experience in developing accounting software, and previously managing a regional sales company, I recognised a strong demand for a better accounting software solution — one that had all of the structure required for good business operation and management, yet was flexible enough to meet the unique needs of each business. Chreos has been developed to meet this demand." Software can easily be designed to accomplish a task (such as business accounting) but all to often the needs of the computer software and its developers end up coming first. This often results in a business being cobbled by the limitations of its business software. Chreos has been designed from-the-ground-up to be flexible. Set it up the way you do business, then customise it to make your business work better, faster, and more efficiently. Chreos puts you in the driver's seat. "It's all about balance," continues Wild. "Too often I have seen businesses get out of balance when using software technology. I have even made this mistake myself in the past. A successful business usually finds a good balance between the time it spends running computer software and the time it spends running its business; the time it spends doing its accounts and the time it spends selling its products; the amount of accounting it does internally, and the amount it leaves to its Accountant.
Chreos lets each business find its own unique and profitable 'balance'. Use Chreos as a simple cashbook, use it to produce invoices, or use all of its modules including General Ledger to help you do such things as manage inventory, monitor your account clients, calculate your GST, and prepare your year-end accounts. The balance you strike with your accounting software is up to you, up to what your business is good at and what you think will be most profitable. Also, Chreos has been designed to take advantage of the latest powerful features of the Windows environment. "Many accounting packages impose limitations on the user which have been caused by the product's very design", says Wild. Examples include not being able to save an invoice half way through creation for completion at a later time or not being able to edit a stock item at the same time as you create an invoice. There are many examples of these types of 'nuisances' in accounting software packages on the market. "Chreos lets you truly multi-task within the application and this makes the accounting package much easier and faster to use." More than just providing a good product, Wild believes strongly in building a long term relationship with the users of Chreos. "It is not good enough to just sell a piece of software and then forget about the needs of the company you sold it to.
